Category: Festivals & Amusement Parks Last Updated: Saturday, 01 July 2017

Colorado puts on quite a celebration for Independence day, with a large number of fireworks shows across the state. There are events of all sizes in 2017. Here we list some of the larger shows both in the Denver metro area as well as across the state.

Black Hawk Boomtown Fireworks: Beginning around 9:30 pm Tuesday, July 4th, 2017, this fireworks display features the biggest and best grand finale in all of Colorado. Get there early for a good viewing spot. In my opinion this is the best Fourth of July fireworks show in Colorado! Boom Town is reported by Western Fireworks to be the largest fireworks display in the State of Colorado.

Other July 4th Fireworks:

Denver 4th of July Fireworks: Denver turns the 4th of July into a multi-day event:

  • Civic Center Park  A concert, light show, and fireworks highlight this Independence Eve celebration at Civic Center Park on July 3rd. This event is extremely crowded, so plan ahead!
  • Coors Field will have large fireworks show on July 4th during the Rockies' game against the Cincinnati Reds.
  • Mile High Stadium will have fireworks on July 4th after the Outlaws game against the Atlanta Blaze, which includes a show on their 97 foot Thundervision screen!
  • Dick's Sporting Goods Park will have fireworks on the 4th after the Rapids game against the Seattle Sounders.
  • Elitch Gardens will have fireworks on July 4th. The show begins at dusk.

Most of the Denver fireworks shows can be seen from anywhere in town where you have a view in that general direction. My favorite spot is the Confluence Park area near REI.

Old Town Arvada fireworks: This large Fourth of July festival features a free Kids Play Zone, live music, and one of Colorado's best fireworks displays. Festival begins at 4pm. Fireworks last 25 minutes and are set to music provided by KOOL 105. This festival takes place at the Lutz/Stenger Sports Complex, enter at 58th Ave and Oak Street.

Aurora Fourth of July Spectacular: The city of Aurora hosts a huge Fourth of July fireworks display. Music begins at 6pm with the fireworks starting around 9:30. Located at the Aurora Municipal Center at 15151 E. Alameda.

Golden Lion's Club Fireworks: The Golden Lion's Club has an annual July 4th celebration and fireworks at Lion's Park (along Clear Creek). The family friendly environment at this park along Clear Creek is great, and the celebration has grown to attract a large crowd over the years. The festival starts at noon with music from the Johnny O Band, Ryan Chris & the Rough Cuts, and Something Underground.

Ralphie's Independence Day Blast, Boulder: The city of Boulder partners with the University of Colorado to put on this festival of music and fireworks beginning at 8pm at Folsom Field.

Colorado Springs Symphony at Memorial Park: This large festival and fireworks show begins at 5:30pm, with music from the The Colorado Springs Philharmonic starting at 7:30.

Pueblo Riverwalk Fireworks and Pueblo West Wet Parade: This festival begins at 5pm with the Pueblo Symphony beginning at 8. If you're up for a good soaking, be sure to check out the Pueblo West Wet Parade that morning.
